It’s the season of giving and giving back is something extremely important to the Teams at Saxe Coburg.

With this in mind, we recently organised a sporting lunch at Rick Stein in Sandbanks with former England Rugby star David Duckham MBE and former professional cricketer David Gower OBE as guest speakers. The lunch, hosted by Saxe Coburg, had 125 business people in the room, who each enjoyed a three-course meal and drinks, while listening to the sporting legend’s tales of iconic moments in their career.

During the event, we organised a raffle for a charity we have the utmost respect for; Lewis-Manning Hospice, based in Sandbanks. They provide valued care to those who are suffering from life-limiting illnesses. The Hospice is a wonderful place of tranquility and care, offering a sophisticated and relaxing space to both day patients and inpatients, who need it the most.

We raised £1260 for Lewis-Manning and were delighted to present them with the cheque today, right before Christmas!

We have so much respect for this charity. The founder of Lewis-Manning Hospice, Marjorie Lewis-Manning was a true pioneer for end of life care. Marjorie was a local businesswoman and dedicated fundraiser, who led £3 million to be raised for two body scanners in Poole Hospital, which is now named the Lewis-Manning Scanner Suite. Marjorie worked tirelessly to create a Hospice that promotes acceptance, hope and peace of mind in a safe and calming environment. She left her Sandbanks home to trustees, with the one wish that the property became a fully-functioning Hospice.

Her legacy lives on today and Lewis-Manning Hospice is everything Marjorie dreamed of, and more.

Lewis-Manning Hospice has a range of services run by its team of palliative care nurses, which includes End of Life Care, Day Hospice (specialist nursing care, physiotherapy, creative arts and complementary therapy), Lymphoedema Clinic, Better Breathing Clinic and Physiotherapy Clinic. Lewis-Manning Hospice is also developing new services all the time and this includes education, and support groups for families and carers.

As you can see, Lewis-manning Hospice has so much to be proud of and is making a real difference in our community.

This is the first of many fundraising activities we plan to undertake over the coming 12 months, so watch this space and keep your eyes peeled to see how you can show your support, too!

We wish everyone at Lewis-Manning Hospice a happy Christmas.
