It’s one of the biggest calendar events of the year, meaning we can’t wait for this year’s Bournemouth Air Show!
We are so lucky this world renowned event takes place on our southern shores. There’s already a anticipation in the air, and as the hype builds over the coming week locals and tourists alike will be planning the best place to watch the planes take to the skies.
This year, Bournemouth Air Show takes place from 30th August to 2nd September. The free event has entertained more than 9.2million people since its inception in 2008, with a record amount of people expected this year.
Front row VIP hospitality sits in dedicated areas with bar facilities right on the beach and central flight line. Wherever you wish to take it all in, whether this be land, sea or air, you will get the best views right on the beach.
Key things to look out for this year are the Breitling Jet Team. Performing for the first time at this year’s Air Festival the Breitling Team have not displayed at a UK civilian Air Show for nearly 15 years and never on the south coast of England, so a trust first for Bournemouth.
The stunning RAF Red Arrows will make their comeback once more, littering our summer skies with their red, white and blue. The Red Arrows represent speed, agility and precision and are a true testament to our Air Force. The times you need are;
Thursday 30th August – 5.30pm
Friday 31st August – 3.00pm
Saturday 1st Sept – 12 noon
Another major crowd pleaser is the RAF HC2 Chinook, which is one of the most distinctive sounds in the sky.
As day moves to night, the incredible Night Air entertainment will take to the skies. throughout the lower gardens and beach guests will be treated to dusk displays, Fireflies and Twister Pair Combo’s, Otto the Helicopter and an extra special nighttime jump. These will take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday. From 10pm on Friday and Saturday make sure you head to the beach for Bournemouth Air Show’s legendary firework displays. You won’t want to miss it!
The Night Air section also welcomes live music including UK Bee Gees, Stevie Wonder and U2 Tribute Acts.
As you can see there is a plethora of whirlwind entertainment on offer. All that is left to do is plan your day and enjoy every moment of the coastline, look up (with an ice cream in hand) and smile at the skies.
